BIOGRAPHY
Most of the paintings that are shown here, are in private collections and are no longer available.  I only have one painting
that is available as a print at this time. I do plan to have more in the future and I can have some made upon request. Also, I
will be adding new images as time goes by. So, if you don't see anything you like now, come back and visit at a later date.
If you would like to get in touch with me to inquire about a painting or just to ask a question, my email address is

I am currently showing my paintings at the Old Town Art Gallery in Eureka, Ca. I have been a member there since 1989.
I was born in LaPorte, Indiana on August 31, 1945.  We were only there for a few months before moving to northern
Missouri.  I lived there until graduating from high school in May 1963.   I joined the Navy right after high school and
toured the world, or parts of it, with Uncle Sam for a little over three years.  I got married to Patricia Ann just after being
discharged in September 1966 and spent the next three years living in San Francisco.  By 1969 we realized that city life
was not for us, at least the type of life we were living at the time, and moved to Hydesville, Ca.  It was quite a change than
living in San Francisco.  Then with some assistance from my father- in-law, I got a job working at a sawmill in Carlotta, a
small community just down the hill from Hydesville . At that time it was a good living for a good ole boy from Missouri, so
I stayed.  In the meantime we were blessed with a little girl (Deborah Lynn) in 1973 and in 1974 moved to Fortuna, Ca.
Bought a small house and have lived there ever since. A lot of things, and I   mean a lot of things, have happened since
then.  But, all things considered, it’s been a pretty good life so far.  A lot better than I thought it would be.  It sure has
turned out different than it started, and I have no complaints.

How did I get started painting?  Well, I think I have always been drawing, painting or trying to create something or
someplace that I
did not have or had never been to.  Or, for that matter, never thought I would.  I can remember watching
my mother draw and color pictures with crayons, wishing that someday I would be able to do that also.  I never asked her
to let me use them too.  I knew how much they meant to her. So, I was really surprised when she told me she would help
me learn to use them.  From that moment on I was hooked.  I used crayons, pencils and pastels to  dream with and make
things and places to go to when times were not so good.  It was like opening a door, to escape for a while.
And when
things got better, I would  entertain my brothers and sisters, drawing things for them.
I did not use watercolors or oils to
paint with until after the urging of my high school art teacher.  I use watercolor mostly at first, but after I finally got the
use of oils figured out, somewhat, (still working on that one) I have never gone back to anything else.  I am still learning
new things with every painting I do.  And I still have a long, long way to go, a distance that I will never reach in my
lifetime.

My favorite subjects to paint are landscapes (as you can tell).  I also paint other subjects upon request.  With some pictures
or some research and some extra time, anything is possible.   But, landscapes are what I like to best.  I guess I still like to
create my own little worlds.
